The Mighty God with Power Speaks”, a new selection from Psalms for All Seasons, will be presented by the choir on Sunday morning. This setting of Psalm 50 is unique in that it uses a tune strangely familiar to “I Heard the Voice of Jesus Say”, which uses a traditional English folk song, titled “Kingsfold”. Psalm 50 is set to a tune called “Star of County Down”. Nearly identical to each other, this may be a question of “chicken or the egg”! Unlike the majestic and royal sounding English setting, this interpretation is a little more rustic in nature, hence the folky sound of Greg’s guitar, and Nathan’s Irish fiddling.

Youth in action

On Friday, May 2, the youth group and adult helpers from Westminster Church served hundreds of hot dogs and bags of chips to a long line of guests at “Friday Night Lighthouse”, which takes place every Friday night at Lighthouse Mission (669 Main St.). Two of the youth, Sam and Ashley, spoke about their faith journeys with the guests, with music provided by the B-Side Apostles (Larry Updike and Greg Glatz). Our thanks to the great staff at Lighthouse Mission for making us feel welcome and giving us an opportunity to share life and learning with our inner-city neighbors. “Love all. Serve all.”
